Drop That Dress is coming to Copeland & Co. Real Estate this Saturday, October 15th, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.! With October 15th being Infant and Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day, Tracie and her husband Tom thought it would be a good day to do something special in honor of their stillbirth baby boy, Penn Thomas.
Drop That Dress is a wedding dress donation drive. Our friends and family will gather to donate dresses, cash, and in-kind gifts to be delivered to Angel Gowns Florida, a volunteer network of seamstresses who turn the dresses into beautiful gowns for stillbirth babies.
The incredible work of Angel Gowns is in it’s subtly. Check out their Facebook page for some photos of their finished baby gowns. Parents of stillbirth babies often aren’t sure what’s going to happen after the delivery. We were unsure what our little boy Penn would look like. That’s where Angel Gowns steps in. They send these beautiful gowns to hospitals all around the country, so that nurses can adorn the baby in the gown before handing him or her back to mom and dad.
Stillbirth babies can also be buried or cremated in the gowns. The reality of stillbirth is grim, but we can find some comfort and light in the work of these amazing volunteers!
Drop That Dress will be the opposite of “grim”! This brunch-themed party will offer mimosas and gourmet tastings to our guests, including a variety of champagne, rose, wine, and various fruit and mixers for the drinks! Come hang out with us as we collect dresses and donations for our little angels.
Please visit our Drop That Dress Facebook page to RSVP for the event. If you don’t have Facebook, shoot an email to tracie at Copeland Company.com to RSVP. The event will be held at our office, 2822 B S Dixie Hwy in West Palm Beach.
To Donate a Wedding Dress
If you’re ready to do something special with your dress, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, we cannot accept dresses that are uncleaned or stained, or that are over 10 years old. Sorry about that. Next, please bring with you the cover for your wedding dress…that offers extra protection during the shipping process.
Once your dress has been transformed into an Angel Gown, we will provide you with a picture of it!
To Make Monetary Donations or In-Kind Donations
Angel Gowns Florida does not accept cash or checks or monetary donations in any form. However, they will accept gift cards to craft stores like Jo-Ann Fabrics. We are collecting donations for two purposes: first, each wedding dress will cost about $20 to ship, so we are collecting shipping donations. Second, any funds unused in the shipping process will be used to purchase gift cards to be donated to Jo-Ann Fabrics. If you would prefer to donate a Jo-Ann Fabrics gift card, we welcome that gesture!
